WORMWOOD have signed to Black Lodge Records. Watch the announcement here.
With their unique melancholic, majestic and dark sound, Wormwood has found their perfect match with Black Lodge Records. Together they’ll march through the Swedish bogs, forests and mountains to show the world their own and unique take on Swedish black metal.
The band‘s sophomore album “Nattarvet” is a journey through famine, isolation and awe-inspiring nature. Together With Black Lodge Records the album will travel through the world like a plague. Unrelenting, unstoppable and undeniably magnificent. “Nattarvet” will be released later this year.
Frontiers Music Srl is delighted to present the fabulous new album from Chaos Magic, entitled “Furyborn”, on June 14! CHAOS MAGIC is centered around Chilean vocalist Caterina Nix who, for this sophomore release from the band, worked in close collaboration with fellow Chilean producer, singer, and musician Nasson. Together, they have created an absolute gem of a metal album, the splendidness of which is on full display in the album’s first single and music video, “Like Never Before“.
“I’ve been writing songs for many years, however, on the previous Chaos Magic album I had no intention of interfering with Timo’s creative process,” tells Caterina, referencing ex-Stratovarius guitarist Timo Tolkki’s involvement on the first Chaos Magic album. “But in the case of “Furyborn,” I had the freedom to design a musical vision of my own. I wanted the album to have both a modern sound and nostalgic feel to it. The process of writing for me is very organic, I just start singing a melody and build the songs from there. I seek the chords, write the lyrics, and work them through. I have several streams of influence, so I definitely wanted a rich mixture of intensities, rhythms, and styles. Of course, I can’t leave out the fact that I worked with two brilliant musicians to give shape to the album, Franco Lama and Nasson, who also produced the album and was a key element in the development of the sound.”
And what exactly is the “sound” on the new Chaos Magic album? “I wanted to mix different styles and also seek a sound of my own and I think that is well achieved in “FuryBorn“. It’s a mixture of heavy, melodic, symphonic, and alternative metal, with traces of modern progressive and electronic elements, unique arrangements and a bit of a nostalgic feel associated to certain sounds from the ’90s and early ’00s. It has moments of rage, power, and sick darkness, but also vulnerable, sensual, and sometimes playful points. “FuryBorn” is harder to label compared to the previous Chaos Magic album since on the new album the guitars are a more prominent ingredient that gives tremendous richness to the sound.
In summary, “FuryBorn” is a rollercoaster ride that flows through assorted intense styles with uncommon arrangements but with very catchy melodies,” concludes Caterina and rest assured she’s really not exaggerating in the descriptions.
Nix also pulled in some talented singers for a few duets on the album: Tom Englund (Evergrey) on the title track, Ailyn (ex-Sirenia) on “Bravely Beautiful”, and Ronnie Romero (Rainbow and CoreLeoni singer, ex-Lords of Black) on “Path Of The Brave”. Producer Nasson also duets with Caterina on “Falling Again”, while Mistheria (Bruce Dickinson, Rob Rock) appears on keyboards on “Beware of Silent Waters”.
“These are incredible voices and all the guest singers gave the album the textures I desired to each of the songs they participated in,” says Caterina. Also of note, the album was mixed to perfection by none other than Danish studio master Jacob Hansen (Volbeat, Pretty Maids, The Dark Element). Caterina Nix is a superb young vocalist from Chile, who was found by chance by former Stratovarius composer and guitarist Timo Tolkki during one of his tours of South America. Timo was supremely impressed and confident in Caterina’s singing abilities and he wrote and produced the first Chaos Magic album, in addition to having her perform on the second “Avalon” rock opera album “Angels of the Apocalypse”.
While these two things brought Caterina to the forefront more on the International stage, she had already started her career in the band Aghonya, who released their first and only album “Oxygen” in 2008, in which she wrote all the lyrics and vocal lines. Released independently, the band and Caterina received rave reviews, which gave them the opportunity to open shows in Chile for bands like After Forever, Edguy, and Within Temptation.

Just over a year after the release of their well-received self-titled debut EP, Pulver emerge with the Kings Under the Sand full-length, an album loaded with eight taut, memorable, but gritty classic metal cuts. The album will be released May 10 on Gates of Hell Records.
The “Phantom Hawk” arrives to enslave ancient Egypt! Here to tell the tale is Pulver, a German metal five-piece who batters like classic Tank and dazzles like early Iron Maiden.
Recorded in October of 2018 at Big Snuff Studio in Berlin, Germany, with producer Richard Behrens at the helm, Kings Under the Sand is stocked with eight compact, gritty metallic forays, successfully bridging the gap between NWOBHM and late 1970s hard rock. Pulver (who consist of vocalist Dave Fröhlich, the guitar tandem of Alex Oster and Lukas Kunkel, bassist Gabor Eichstätter and drummer Danny Oster) found the benefit of songwriting as a unit where no idea went unheard, but, a regimented and critical process was implemented to ensure the best results. Accordingly, Kings Under the Sand is without filler, relishing in classic metal gallops and the rough, imitable vocals of Fröhlich, who, across album highlights such as “Blacksmith’s Lament” and “Warrior Caste,” sounds like he’s channeling the ghosts of Manilla Road’s Mark Shelton, Pagan Altar’s Terry Jones and, for good measure, Motörhead’s Lemmy Kilmister.
Pulver has also made a concerted effort to introduce their unofficial mascot, the “Phantom Hawk” to the metal world. Described as an alien warrior tribe that made its first appearance on the band’s self-titled EP, this time, the Phantom Hawk (who is featured on the album’s cover art created by Max Löffler) has ancient Egypt under enslavement. In true storytelling fashion, Fröhlich and band takes the listener through a science fiction-themed journey that concludes with the epic “Curse of the Pharaoh.”
The depth and scope of Kings Under the Sand cannot be disputed — Pulverhas created an album that will easily satisfy the classic metal horde while offering a glimpse into the universe they’ve created with the Phantom Hawk. Well-executed classic metal with a concept to boot? It’s icing on the intergalactic cake.
Track Listing: 1. Rising 2. Phantom Hawk 3. Blacksmith’s Lament 4. Kings Under the Sand 5. Qarînah 6. Warrior Caste 7. Alpha Omega 8. Curse of the Pharaoh

LECHEROUS NOCTURNE is touring in support of 2018’s Occultaclysmic, the band’s fourth album and first for Willowtip. Purchase your copy and/or stream the album below.
“Nine songs use angular riffs, a rhythm section that seems intent on playing their instruments into the dust and an ear for brutality, Occultaclysmic could very well be one of the year’s best technical death metal records.” – Decibel Magazine
“It has thick musical roots firmly ingrained in the DM genre while expanding the sound further into the extreme. It’s faster, much more powerful, and more intricate. It’s everything you hold dear, just taken to a next level.” – No Clean Singing
“Lecherous Nocturne offer up some of the best brutal, raw, technical and sickening death metal. Occultaclysmic is one hell of an intense, fulfilling and brutalizing record.” – Cadaver Garden
“Occultaclysmic sees the brutal/technical death metal band scale new heights, blending Incantation and Portal-esque mindfuckery with Suffocation inspired riffs.” – The Sound Not The Word
“This new album is beyond brutal, recorded and sequenced with a pace that goes right for the jugular. This music boasts a blackened death metal vibe that is vicious enough to conjure the devil!” – The Metal Channel
“The music is raw and visceral, bringing a huge impact to the table.” – Heavy Music Headquarters
Since their debut in 1997, LECHEROUS NOCTURNE have pushed the boundaries of death metal to extreme limits and even crossed the threshold through the blackened spectrum, abolishing any limitations some may confine to most technical subgenres. Conventional song structures and solos are void in their songwriting, with only the drive of leaving a ferocious trail of technical viciousness in their wake. The strength of their self-titled E.P. landed the band a two album deal with Unique Leader Records, which was followed by a series of nationwide tours with the biggest names in the genre. After touring on Behold Almighty Doctrine, the group inked a deal with Willowtip Records for the release of Occultaclysmic. Occultaclysmic was engineered by Jarrett Pritchard.
We’re always looking to bring something new to our platform and reach as many people as possible. Personally, we thought something was missing from our blog. We got the pictures, we got video, interviews, footage of live gigs, even our own “tv show” hosted by Ian Gray…what else can be brought to the table you ask?
We were talking one day about bringing some more personal stuff to the blog, to aim not only on the bands themselves, but to the fans. Fashion? Hm…maybe. Hairstyles? Well, frankly, in our experience metalheads have four hairstyles–long, bald, mohawks and dreadlocks. Not much to do there… Then it hit me…
Makeup! Something for the ladies (or, whoever enjoys makeup) that wanna get extra spiffy out at gigs! How do we incorporate that into the blog? Simple: each look will be inspired by a local level band’s song.
First up to bat–we chose Madison locals Cast In Fire, and featured their song “Suffocate”.
We would love to know what you think of this new segment. In fact, if you feel so inclined to try this “Suffocate” makeup look, we ask that you not hesitate to send pictures to our facebook page to show off!
Bands, also feel free to send us a message anytime if you would like to inspire a makeup look to feature one of your songs on the blog!
Without further ado, below is our video brought to you by Maehem’s own resident punk and licensed cosmetologist, Cat!
