Not long after releasing their heartfelt, fan-dedicated music video for “Run” (WATCH HERE), Gold-certified alt-rock trailblazers COLD are back with more exciting news. Late last year, frontman Scooter Ward was invited to appear on Breaking Benjamin’s emotive new track, “Far Away”, which can be downloaded/streamed HERE and appears on their new album, Aurora, out today.
Today, Breaking Benjamin have released the official music video for “Far Away” – also featuring Scooter Ward! COLD vocalist Scooter Ward says about appearing on the track: “I had the best experience in being a part of the new Breaking Benjamin video for the song “Far Away”. Ben and his team were beyond top notch. I’m thankful to all involved. It was such a great vibe. And besides, I’ve always wanted to sing on an otherworldly planet of lights and then get abducted at the end of a song. Hope you enjoy it! Love to you all, and love to Ben Burnley for inviting me on his journey.”

COLD experienced a transcendent 2019 – peaking with the successful release of their Billboard-charting Napalm Records debut, The Things We Can’t Stop, subsequent singles “Shine”, “Without You”, “The Devil We Know” and “Run”, and a North American come back tour boasting several sold out shows. Now, COLD have their sights set on a bright 2020. Billboard said it best: “Cold is heating up for a new era…” Check out another recent music video for COLD’s buzzing single, “Without You”, HERE.
Stay tuned for more news in the world of COLD, coming soon! About COLD Discography:At the turn of the century, COLD unveiled the seminal 13 Ways To Bleed On Stage, which went Gold and yielded hits such as “Just Got Wicked”, “No One”, and “End of the World”. Their 2003 follow-up, Year of the Spider, marked their highest chart position, bowing at #3 on the Billboard Top 200, receiving a Gold certification, and spawning the smash “Stupid Girl” accompanied by Rivers Cuomo of Weezer. 2005’s A Different Kind of Pain illuminated melodic strides to the tune of 37,000-plus copies sold first-week and a Top 30 debut. Meanwhile, 2011’s Superfiction continued this streak, crashing the Top 10 of the Top Rock Albums Chart upon arrival and extending a growing legacy.
On February 21st, Blues Funeral Recordings will release Refractions, the searing new album from Sweden’s Lowrider.
As the preeminent band out of the gate in the late 90s post-Kyuss wake, Lowrider‘s debut EP and seminal album “Ode to Io” were foundational slabs at the dawn of stoner rock. The swinging metal offshoot grew quickly into a worldwide phenomenon, with Lowrider established as one of its undeniable trailblazers.
Following those early releases with a handful of compilation and soundtrack appearances and a period of relative inactivity, the band re-emerged at DesertFest Berlin in 2013. They’ve since blown minds at Hellfest, Keep it Low, DesertFests London and Belgium, Stoned from the Underground and Up in Smoke, and issued expanded remastered versions of their original records. All that was left was to give the world something new.
New album “Refractions” explodes with all the churning fuzz and expansive riff-heaviness for which the band are beloved, shot through with re-energized purpose and maturity. The grooves swing, the bottom end rumbles, and the melodies growl and soar, delivering at last on Lowrider‘s longing-to-be-fulfilled promise.
Before Monolord, Truckfighters, Greenleaf or Graveyard, one band blasted open the doors to announce Sweden’s riff-heavy desert rock arrival. Now, at long last, Lowrider are back to deliver on their much-deserved mythic status.
“Lowrider’s ‘Ode to Io’ is an absolute landmark. It is essential. Quite possibly the best desert-style rock record not to come from the actual Californian desert.” — THE OBELISK
“Thunderous riff-rides like ‘Caravan’ and ‘Saguaro’ cannot be denied, and quite honestly leave a much more lasting impression than most anything issued by the likes of Nebula and even Fu Manchu.” — ALL MUSIC GUIDE
“Ode to Io is desert-rock in its purest and heaviest form. Almost the whole album is indeed explosive, fuzzy and straight to the point… the best definition of stoner rock you could get.” — SPUTNIK MUSIC
Refractions will be released on digital, CD and LP from Blues Funeral Recordings on February 21st.
British heavy metal icons DIAMOND HEAD are pleased to unveil a lyric video for “The Sleeper.” The tune comes by way of the band’s critically-lauded The Coffin Train full-length, released earlier this year via Silver Lining Music.
Their fourth single, “The Sleeper” is epic, commencing with calm and sober vocals that build into a poignant and powerful riff and chorus that takes the listener on a dark, reflective journey. Of the track, vocalist Rasmus Bom Andersens comments, “It’s such a big sounding track that it almost takes you on a cinematic journey. ‘The Sleeper’ is a follow up to ‘Silence’ off the last record. We had fans who loved the orchestral elements and I wanted to give them some more. It was inspired by a favorite Sci-fi movie from my childhood.” Adds guitarist Brian Tatler, “Starting life in 2016 with the main riff, I decided to demo it and see if I could make it into a song. With a bit of work this grew into a powerful monster with Ras’ lyrics inspired by the 1984 film Dune. It’s very moody and dynamic with brilliant orchestration.”
The Coffin Train is out now on Silver Lining Music. For order options, go toTHIS LOCATION.
The Coffin Train, DIAMOND HEAD‘s eighth studio album, is a glorious testimony to Brian Tatler and Rasmus Bom Andersens’ masterful ability to create the flavors necessary for prime DIAMOND HEAD music. At once fresh and exuberant while also being a stone-cold classic slice of old-school heavy metal excellence, the record is packed with the sort of riff-fueled power for which the band is known. The Coffin Train was recorded in several different places with guitars, bass, and vocals captured at Vigo Studios in Walsall and drums at Circle Studios in Birmingham. The album was produced and mixed at Ras’ Raw Sound Studio in London. When it comes to the concepts behind TheCoffin Train, Tatler left the heart to Bom Andersens, who being a thinker and life-conceptualizer, doesn’t lack sources of inspiration.
DIAMOND HEAD have not only managed to create an album of pure heavy metal intensity, they have created a timeless aural statement which feels destined to see them delivering both TheCoffin Train and DH 2.0 to more fans than ever. Following an electrifying performance at Wacken Open Air, DIAMOND HEAD are relentless in their quest to bring The Coffin Train to stages around the globe. The band will tour through Europe for the rest of 2019 and are confirmed on the lineup of two very special UK shows with NWOBHM giants, Saxon, which will take place on October 19th at the legendary Hammersmith in London and October 20th at the O2 Apollo in Manchester. The band will also support Black Star Riders as well as Uriah Heep on select dates. See all confirmed dates below.
