1 years after their last full-length “Mistreated”, German Speed Metal veterans SDI return with a new album! After reactivating their activity back in 2013, SDI went to perform on several shows and festivals such as “True Thrash Fest” in Japan, as well as the Czech “Obscene Extreme” and several other shows and tours across Europe since 2017.
In the year 2019 ,the trio finally made it back to the studio, where they recorded 12 new tracks, reflecting the band’s range from speed metal grenades to metal anthems in ways of the old school. To get rid of the expectation to have reinvented the wheel somehow, the title of the album makes it clear on what’s going on – and so this album is all about the 80s, the period of time where the band left their mark!
“80s Metal Band” is therefore not only a description in which SDI feel represented in 2020, but also the motto and title of the new full-length which takes the listener 30 years back in time. The mix of Føni Goedereis and the mastering of Peter “Pluto” Neuber (Primordial, Blood Red Throne, Manos) makes sure that the sound of SDI fits into the new millennium!
January 31, 2020 – Austin Music Award-winning band BLACK HEART SAINTS has just released the fourth and final installment from their new Misery EP — a blistering Southern hard rock tune that masterfully melds the soulfulness of THE BLACK CROWES with the sheer heaviness of SOUNDGARDEN.
The music video for “Misery” takes a darker tone than the previous installments of the series, touching upon such topics as addiction and depression. All four music videos from the Misery EP were shown as part of a film premiere at Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, TX earlier this month, which featured a red carpet and a curated drink menu.
Black Heart Saints has continued to turn heads around the country, and will be featured as part of Sweetwater Studio’s Master Class program — a specialized recording class available to the public that recently hosted such names as ANTHRAX and ERIC JOHNSON.
Dangerous & dirty, with a distinct groove steeped in classic rock, yet with a modern intensity. Black Heart Saints gives fans exactly what they want – rock god vocals catapulted over explosive, memorable riffs – leaving legions of the rock ‘n’ roll faithful yearning for more.
After debuting at South by Southwest Festival, this powerhouse quartet has been building a solid reputation as a support act for national touring bands such as Slash featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, Sevendust, Steel Panther, Pop Evil, Buckcherry, Stryper, Dirty Honey, and more.
The soaring vocals of front-man Josh Ross have drawn comparisons to Myles Kennedy and Chris Cornell. While the band is influenced by the likes of Mötley Crüe, Guns ‘N Roses, and other legendary Hard Rock acts, the commanding presence of Black Heart Saints’ live show brandishes an updated take on the genre.
Quickly conquering some of the biggest stages and festivals in the United States, Black Heart Saints has built an impressive resume, and has been recognized as one of the nation’s top emerging rock acts:
– 2019 Austin Music Awards Winner #1 – Music videos featured in over 5,000+ gyms across the US and Canada – Sturgis Motorcycle Rally Headliner – Austin Chronicle Music Awards: Top 10 Best New Bands – San Antonio’s Fiesta Oyster Bake Headliner – Official South By Southwest Festival Performer – Buffalo Trace Battle of the Bands Grand Prize Winner – ESPN X Games Performer
The band’s first full-length release – ALIVE – was soon followed by the Road to Sturgis Tour 2017, which put Black Heart Saints’ charismatic live performance to the test when the band took the stage at the world-renowned motorcycle rally, attended by over 500,000 bikers from all around the globe.
In 2018, Black Heart Saints embarked on an extensive tour to the West Coast beginning in January, which included a highlight performance at the legendary Viper Room in West Hollywood, California. On April 12th, 2018, Austin City Council and Mayor Steve Adler officially proclaimed April 12th to be “Black Heart Saints Day.”
After being tapped to open for Steel Panther, Slash, and Pop Evil throughout 2018 and 2019, Black Heart Saints has been dominating stages in their native Texas, with highlight performances at prestigious venues such as the House of Blues in Houston, Texas.
The band’s latest release, Misery EP, which features an accompanying film based on the band’s music, has received rave reviews:
“When I first heard opening track ‘Lines’ I knew Black Heart Saints were onto another winner. The song, which comes across like a heavier take on ‘Southern Harmony-era’ Black Crowes, is something special indeed and a great way to start this four track EP. Just to make sure you are sat up and paying attention then ‘Crazy’ muscles in, it’s a big-riffed stomper that smashes the door down making it another great opening to a Saints’ release.” – The Rock Pit (Australia)
“Take advantage of this now. Hit those local shows while you still can, grab that grainy IG video proof and a moment to meet & greet the guys before they’re selling out stadiums and you miss that opportunity.” – Kail Rose (dRiFFt)
Detroit punk/metal unit CHILD BITE will take to the streets in the coming weeks on a month-long rash of live dates. The trek begins mid-February with a six-show run that includes an appearance on No Coast Fest in Arlington, Texas with Cherubs, Big’n, and others. In March, the band will play three warm up shows including a performance in Cincinnati, Ohio with Sheer Terror and Carnivore A.D. before joining Today Is The Day on a portion of their No Good To Anyone tour. CHILD BITE‘s journey will run through two dozen US cities from March 9th through April 5th. Additional support will be provided by The Obsessed and -16- on select shows. See all confirmed dates below.
CHILD BITE will be touring in support of their Blow Off The Omens full-length, released late last fall via Housecore Records. Captured by legendary engineer Steve Albini (Nirvana, Neurosis, The Jesus Lizard) and mixed by Grammy award-winning engineer Collin Dupuis (Tomahawk, Dr. John, Lana Del Rey), the nine-track offering is a leaner, meaner follow-up to the band’s critically lauded 2016 full-length, Negative Noise. From the head bob-inducing, noise rock groove of “Vexed Life” to the Jello-Biafra-with-NoMeansNo-esque freight train that is “They All Look Away,” Blow Off The Omens covers a lot of ground within its half-hour running time. Riffs indebted to both Piggy and Pig Champion root their way throughout the album like alt-metal/hardcore hogs on the hunt.
CHILD BITE’s Blow Off The Omens is out now on CD, digital, and limited-edition vinyl formats. For physical orders, visit the Housecore store at THIS LOCATION. For digital orders, go the CHILD BITE Bandcamp page at THIS LOCATION where the record can be streamed.

Gates of Hell Records will release the two-song EP Victims of the Night/Drifting Away from upstart Finnish Metallers ORPHAN DEVIL on 7″ vinyl format on February 21. The EP showcases a deft blend of classic metal with a dose of speed. Formed in 2016, Orphan Devil is prepared to emerge from the Finnish metal underground with a pair of songs that showcase their unique influences and stellar songwriting.
The self-released digital version released is available to stream HERE Track List Side A – Victims of the NightSide B – Drifting Away
Named after a 1982 single from the obscure Swedish band Shakespeare, Orphan Devil was formed in 2016 by a group of old Finnish friends who shared the same interest in music. Once vocalist Perttu joined earlier in 2019, Orphan Devil’s lineup was officially complete, and the band quickly got to work on some existing ideas, hammering out the two-song Victims of the Night/Drifting Away EP, which will be formally released by Gates Of Hell Records.
While Orphan Devil is a classic metal band at heart, their influences reveal something deeper. Continuing the thread of taking influences from their neighbors to the northwest, Orphan Devil has culled from their vast library of vintage Swedish metal bands for their sound. (It’s also worth pointing out that none of the members of Orphan Devil would have picked up an instrument without Iron Maiden.) But, this slight punk influence and melancholy coming from Sweden has worked its way into both “Victims Of The Night” and “Drifting Away,” two songs that were put together by the guitar tandem of Sakke and Kristo, with the latter handling the lyrics that touch upon themes of life and death with a glimpse of hope.
Orphan Devil’s method of completing their songs harkens back to the old-school as well: Once Sakke and Kristo have worked out the riffs and lyrics, the rest of the band (which includes bassist Sampo and drummer Late), add their ideas.
Designed to whet the appetite of the metal scene, Victims of the Night/Drifting Away hones in on Orphan Devil’s very simple philosophy: Have something to say with your music. Don’t just copy already existing bands. Be creative and find your own thing. Truer words have not been spoken.
German indie three-piece KOJ share their new single “Jenny” along with a live session video. It’s the second single from the bands Long Branch Records label debut album “HOME” coming Spring 2020. The song “Jenny” talks about experiencing dark moments in your life and feeling like there is no possible way out of it. KOJ wanted to explore the way someone might perceive the world through this lense of anxiety and hopelessness and it made them wonder what it might take for that person to see a silver lining and to feel like they belong again.
KOJ comments on new single “Jenny”:”Jenny was written in our home studio and it was a very intuitive and collaborative process. The three of us started jamming randomly at the beginning of a songwriting session and it just sort of came together. Beray Habip, our producer and engineer, coordinated the whole thing and guided us through the process of making the song. In a way Jenny came out of thin air, but then again this is one of those songs that seems to have been waiting somewhere in the collective subconscious just to be written.
Basically it only took us one day to write the entire track and record a demo version. It was such a wonderful feeling to listen to Jenny at the end of that day, realising that ‘wow, we really did this!’. We then took the demo to Toolhouse Studios to record the final version of the song. So, the song is called Jenny, which originally came from ‘Jennifer Lawrence’, which was the working title for the track. The song has a line about a silver lining, so we thought of ‘Silver Linings’ and about Jennifer Lawrence. We had started this weird habit on previous songs of temporarily naming the songs after celebrities, before committing to a proper song title. We created quite the line-up with names such as Pamela Anderson or Scarlett Johansson, before renaming them for the album. Jennifer Lawrence became Jenny and stayed this way, because the name also has a very personal reference and connection to the theme of the song.”

Copenhagen’s rising death doom outfit, KONVENT, is set to release their highly anticipated debut album, Puritan Masochism,on January 24via Napalm Records. Only a few days ahead of its official release, the band has just premiered another brutal-sounding appetizer with a brand new video! The Danish collective, founded in 2015, stoically trudges through the blackest mires – following in the footsteps of Mythic, Paradise Lost, Skepticism and Winter, who all unleashed the bleakest horror on mankind in the early 90s. Rikke Emilie List`s guttural vocals and tenacious riffing combined with menacingly heavy production make the debut by these four Danish women a massive, extreme metal highlight of early 2020 – and it wouldn`t come as a surprise if their upcoming album, Puritan Masochism, conjures up a deserved revival for the whole death doom genre!
Following the premiere of the band’s latest music video to the album title track ( watch HERE!), today we witness a final single before the album drops later this month. Better get doomed and fix your eyes on KONVENT‘s brand new video for the blistering track ‘Ropes pt. II‘ HERE!
“Ropes pt. II was the last song we wrote for the album.” the band comments. “Our deadline was getting closer and we isolated ourselves in our rehearsal space during the weekend before going into the studio. We spent hours jamming to the main riff while the Danish Summer sun was baking outside, and in the end we managed to complete the song.It was actually inspired by our other song Ropes pt. I which, at that time, didn’t have a title. Ropes pt. I is about knowing someone who is going through a bad time and the powerlessness that comes with it. We thought it could be interesting to write a song from the other person’s point of view and connect the songs and their protagonists. We chose to incorporate ropes in the titles because in these situations they can be a mean of help to climb out of the darkness or a means of suicide; we leave it up to the listener’s imagination. Regarding the video, we were all quite tired of the same old “metal music video recipe”. Actually, we didn’t really care for being in the video ourselves but found it way more interesting to play with smoke, lights and shadows. We got in touch with photographer Nicky de Silva via a common friend and he was very interested in diving into a darker side of the arts. We had a meeting with him and our visions clicked. He found the models for the video as well and we couldn’t be happier with the result!“
Album Tracklisting: 1. Puritan Masochism 2. The Eye 3. Trust 4. World of Gone 5. Bridge 6. Waste (ft. Tue Krebs Roikjer) 7. Idle Hands 8. Ropes pt. I 9. Ropes pt. II Coming January 24 via LP, CD and Digital formats through Napalm Records, you can pre-order your album copy at THIS LOCATION!
