Maehem News: KONVENT Premieres Brand New Video

Copenhagen’s rising death doom outfit, KONVENT, is set to release their highly anticipated debut album, Puritan Masochism, on January 24via Napalm Records. Only a few days ahead of its official release, the band has just premiered another brutal-sounding appetizer with a brand new video!
The Danish collective, founded in 2015, stoically trudges through the blackest mires – following in the footsteps of Mythic, Paradise Lost, Skepticism and Winter, who all unleashed the bleakest horror on mankind in the early 90s. Rikke Emilie List`s guttural vocals and tenacious riffing combined with menacingly heavy production make the debut by these four Danish women a massive, extreme metal highlight of early 2020 – and it wouldn`t come as a surprise if their upcoming album, Puritan Masochism, conjures up a deserved revival for the whole death doom genre!

Following the premiere of the band’s latest music video to the album title track ( watch HERE!), today we witness a final single before the album drops later this month. Better get doomed and fix your eyes on KONVENT‘s brand new video for the blistering track ‘Ropes pt. II‘ HERE!

Ropes pt. II was the last song we wrote for the album.” the band comments. “Our deadline was getting closer and we isolated ourselves in our rehearsal space during the weekend before going into the studio. We spent hours jamming to the main riff while the Danish Summer sun was baking outside, and in the end we managed to complete the song.It was actually inspired by our other song Ropes pt. I which, at that time, didn’t have a title. Ropes pt. I is about knowing someone who is going through a bad time and the powerlessness that comes with it. We thought it could be interesting to write a song from the other person’s point of view and connect the songs and their protagonists. We chose to incorporate ropes in the titles because in these situations they can be a mean of help to climb out of the darkness or a means of suicide; we leave it up to the listener’s imagination.
Regarding the video, we were all quite tired of the same old “metal music video recipe”. Actually, we didn’t really care for being in the video ourselves but found it way more interesting to play with smoke, lights and shadows. We got in touch with photographer Nicky de Silva via a common friend and he was very interested in diving into a darker side of the arts. We had a meeting with him and our visions clicked. He found the models for the video as well and we couldn’t be happier with the result!“

Album Tracklisting:
1. Puritan Masochism
2. The Eye
3. Trust
4. World of Gone
5. Bridge
6. Waste (ft. Tue Krebs Roikjer)
7. Idle Hands
8. Ropes pt. I
9. Ropes pt. II

Maehem News: ASTHMA CASTLE Premieres ‘Mount Crushmore’ Video Via Metal Injection

Stoner metal/sludge dealers ASTHMA CASTLE – featuring drummer Adam Jarvis (Pig Destroyer, Misery Index, Scour), guitarists Justin Ethem (touring rhythm guitarist for Integrity) and Cameron Smith (Passage Between, Crawler), vocalist Zach Westphal (ex-J. Roddy Walston And The Business), and bassist Jeff Davis – are pleased to unveil their new video for “Mount Crushmore.” The tune comes by way of the full-length of the same name, released last March via Hellmistress Records.

The comical new clip was filmed by Chris Joao and Jeffrey Novosel from Iron Elephant Studio on historic Harford Road in Baltimore, Maryland and features the iconic Umberto’s Hair Salon, where you go to get the “Total Look.” Live footage was taken at Cafe Nola in Frederick, Maryland.

Notes the band, “The video includes a very special appearance by Steve the Barber. It’s tough to pick out, but at one point, Adam is drinking beer out of a cowbell. Later, he’s drinking while playing drums at the same time! Such talent! There are several hidden references to Baltimore, such as the mullet guy wearing a Kix sleeveless shirt standing outside of Umberto’s as Zach struts by.”

View ASTHMA CASTLE’s “Mount Crushmore,” now playing at Metal Injection, at THIS LOCATION.

Out now on Hellmistress Records, ASTHMA CASTLE‘s Mount Crushmore was recorded and mixed at Wrightway Studios (Dying Fetus, Misery Index), mastered by Scott Hull of Pig Destroyer at his own Visceral Sound Studios with cover art by Gary Ronaldson of Bite Radius Designs (Napalm Death, Kreator etc.). ASTHMA CASTLE manifests a unique and seamless, riff-heavy blend of stoner metal/rock, heavy metal, prog, and sludge that takes its cues from the likes of Weedeater, Church Of Misery, Mastodon, Lowrider, Dozer, and Clutch without ever seeming derivative.

Maehem News: JULIET RUIN Release New Video ‘Spite’

Old Stardust, Love, and Chaos” Out September 6, 2019
Western Canadian Tour Dates

Since starting on their musical journey in 2015 from the ashes of a previous endeavour, JULIET RUIN has been working tirelessly to make a name for themselves in the Canadian music scene. Making their way across local stages and appearing at several Western Canadian festivals, JULIET RUIN will be unleashing their first full-length album “Old Stardust, Love and Chaos” on September 6, 2019 to follow their 2017 debut self titled EP.

Earlier this summer, the Edmonton based band released their first single Seasons, a song about the goddess of spring and hell in Greek mythology along with being a nod to badass women everywhere.

Now they are ready to drop their second banger ‘Spite’ with an exciting video that gives a dose of harsh truth via an exclusive premiere on here.

The band adds:

“‘Spite’ is one of the heaviest on the album, being the very first song where Jess screams entire verses. This song is an honest look at what it is like to regain perspective after dealing with a narcissistic force in one’s life. Spite’s courses are surprisingly upbeat in theme and sound, especially in contrast to the angry verses. It starts intense and continues to intensify throughout.”

Fans of forward-thinking modern metal such as Evanescence, System of a Down, and Killswitch Engage should take special note of this powerful and emotive Canadian band.

The ten-track album “Old Stardust, Love, and Chaos” showcases a brand that is all their own. They describe their new album as staying true to their roots while continuing to tinker with their sound:

“’Old Stardust, Love, and Chaos’ stays true to a lot of our root qualities in terms of catchy hooks and overall groove, but fans can expect a lot of new and even somewhat experimental things on the album as well. Lyrically speaking this album delves into a little bit deeper subject matter than the EP, focusing a lot of personal introspection and mental health, as well as general societal concerns from differing degrees of headspace; from optimism to apathy.”

Digital stream and download of their first single ‘Seasons’ available on Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music, Amazon.

Show Dates:

  • Sept 6 – Edmonton, AB  – The Starlite Room
  • Sept 7 – Saskatoon, SK –  Black Cat Tavern

Maehem News: NANOWAR OF STEEL Release Thier Video ‘Norwegian Reggaeton’

What would happen if the black metal greats took a break from burning churches to dance at a reggaeton party? Well, speculate no further because NANOWAR OF STEEL has the answer with their summer hit single ‘Norwegian Reggaeton’

The Italian power metal parody band is feeling the heat of the summer with this mashup of speedy guitar work over the classic Reggaeton beat. Staying true to the dance hall genre they have a spicy chorus featuring Spain’s Charly Glamour of Gigatron

The band comments:
“We think that this song is a long due tribute to the metal community. It is by and large unfair that while everyone dances on the beach, flirt with ladies in bikinis and enjoy the summer, we metalheads have lacked the proper soundtrack to do the same. But now, this song will allow us to twerk, dance and mosh without losing our metallic dignity.”

Get ready to light up your summer and dance with Varg and Fenriz in this imaginative and hilarious video that will get you banging your head and shaking your booty.

Watch the video at below

The single is available on Spotify, Bandcamp, Apple Music and all other major online retailers

Their single “Giorgio Mastrota”, released in 2012, became an instant YouTube-hit, with over two million views and has since then also been broadcasted on national radio and TV.

A CD+DVD celebrating 11 years of activity, entitled “A Knight at the Opera” is released 2014 and was followed by an intense live activity mostly based in Italy, also hitting the stages of Switzerland, Austria and Germany.
